I am Rachel
Hi!
I am someone who loves photographing birds, nature, and insects. It makes me happy to be outdoors, with my camera, sharing little moments with the environment around me. I live in New York City, but I moved here from New Mexico, and grew up in Rhode Island.
I studied film at the College of Santa Fe for two years before transferring to the University of New Mexico. I graduated from UNM with a degree in anthropology. I then attended St. John's University School of Law, graduating in 2012. During law school I interned at the Rhode Island Superior Court, The New York Legal Assistance Group, and the Children's Law Center. Since my bar admittance in 2014, I have tried to balance my love for the arts and photography with a career in law, focusing on eDiscovery and document review. I also have worked in the television industry as a transcriber and post-production assistant.
In the spare time I manage to have, I enjoy watching and writing about film (mostly horror). You can find my writing at serpent-club.com. I also used to write about animal welfare and law at thepawreport.org, and was a former organizer for the NYC chapter of the animal rights group Direct Action Everywhere. I like to give back to nature by volunteering in the city parks and waterways, and I'm a proud member of the National Women's Liberation. From 2012 to 2015 I was an active member of the Animal Law Committee of the New York City Bar Association.
My favorite artists, writers, and thinkers are Edvard Munch, David Lynch, Mary Oliver, Albert Camus, Ted Chiang, Rilke, and Kafka.
